The music world is shocked upon hearing that renowned music producer and writer Busbee – born Michael James Ryan – has passed away at the age of 43. His cause of death is still unknown, but insiders say he had recently started undergoing treatment for glioblastoma – an aggressive brain tumor – after receiving the diagnosis this summer.

According to People Magazine, the California-born music legend produced numerous A-list artists during his career, including Pink, Gwen Stefani, Christina Aguilera, Adam Lambert, Garth Brooks, Lady Antebellum, and Shakira. Warner Bros. co-chairmen Aaron Bay-Schuck and Tom Corson released a statement after the news of Busbee’s death broke, saying that they lost a dear friend and business partner who was “one of the best and brightest creative minds in music.”

This just doesn’t seem fair. I will always love you and the songs and albums I was lucky to make with you, Busbee. Rest well, my sweet friend. 💔 pic.twitter.com/9DKsU5G77a

As the news of his death started to spread, numerous artists posted their reactions on social media, including Blake Shelton and Shakira.

“I absolutely can’t accept the loss of mine and Gwen’s friend Michael (Busbee),” wrote Shelton on Twitter. “Too much to say for social media. Too much pain and unfairness period. I guess sometimes you gotta dig extra EXTRA deep for peace to continue to have faith. And I will because Michael ALWAYS had faith.”

Shakira posted a pic of herself in the studio with Busbee, and she wrote that an uncanny talent and unique soul has departed, and he left so early. However, Shakira says that his music and passion will be among us forever and will always be cherished. The singer also sent her condolences to his family and the Nashville music community.

Other stars who posted messages of love and condolences included country singer Maren Morris – who Busbee wrote four songs for, including My Church and 80s Mercedes – and Carly Pearce, who posted a slew of pics and wrote in the caption that she sang Every Little Thing (written by Busbee) through broken tears with thousands of cell phone lights in the air.

Today an uncanny talent and unique soul has departed.
Busbee you left us so early, but your music and your passion will be among us and forever cherished.
My condolences to his family and the music community in Nashville. pic.twitter.com/g9ya0eeNav
