The mayor of Chicago, Lori Lightfoot, seems to be quite disappointed with recent statements made by Ivanka Trump regarding gun violence in the city. Mayor Lightfoot appeared on several networks where she criticized President Donald Trump’s daughter.

According to the mayor, Ivanka got various things wrong when talking about the situation, and she sounded quite critical towards her in general.

Ivanka initially referenced a wave of violence that had struck Chicago, claiming that the city had experienced its “deadliest weekend of the year.”

She added that there had been little national outrage or media coverage, and urged people to resist becoming numb to the violence around them.

Ivanka’s tweet said: “With seven dead and 52 wounded near a playground in the Windy City — and little national outrage or media coverage — we mustn’t become numb to the violence faced by inner-city communities every day.”

According to the mayor, various statements made by Ivanka were outright wrong. The shooting did not happen at a playground but a park, for example.

Lightfoot also said she apparently got the number of victims wrong, as the mayor pointed out that there were not seven dead nor 52 wounded in one incident.

In the end, the mayor described the overall nature of the statements as “misleading” and did not attempt to hide her disappointment at the president’s daughter for taking things that far.

She said: “First and foremost, I think if you really want to be helpful, and particularly given the platform that you’re in, you pick up the phone, and you call, and you talk to us about what actually happened so we could’ve given her a full rundown of what the facts were. And then, we have a communication about what is the best path forward.”

Lightfoot went on to say: “And look, don’t get me wrong: We had a tough weekend. But conflating all of that, and getting the facts wrong, and saying playground, which it wasn’t near a playground, and suggesting that children were at risk, was dangerous and unhelpful.”

Ivanka has not responded to the attack since then and has remained quiet ever since.

It is also interesting to note that an official spokesperson for the White House supported the statements made by Ivanka claiming that the first daughter’s point remains the same even if some of her claims were not factually correct.

Many have mocked the official response even more than the one made by Ivanka herself in the first place.
