Despite being tested positive for the coronavirus, Chris Cuomo is still hosting his CNN primetime show much to the surprise of many, including some of the colleagues and close friends.

On Wednesday, CNN chief medical correspondent Dr. Sanjay Gupta had an interview with Cuomo where he begged him to take it slow because he wants him to get better.

The medical expert and TV personality told the reporter: “Chris, you — look. I just want to say, and I know this is not what the segment’s about. First of all, I’m happy to see you. We spoke last night after the show. You had these rigors. I’m just going to say it, so bad that I think you chipped a tooth.”

Cuomo responded by: “Yes.” Gupta continued: “This was significant for you, Chris. And I’m just going to say, as well, you know, we talk about the abdication of duty. I don’t want to abdicate my duty. I know you’re a warrior, but you’re allowed to take a day off. Say you feel worse today; I’m glad you don’t have the tightness in the chest still.”

The doctor went on to say: “I was worried about that, but Chris, man, you know, we love you, we think about you, and it’s okay too, you know, I know you’re dreaming about this stuff, you’re fully engaged, but it’s okay to take a day off.”

Cuomo replied: “You’re totally right, and you got to take care of yourself, you can’t take care of anybody else.”

The night before CNN anchor, Don Lemon cried on-air while talking about Cuomo’s coronavirus diagnosis.

The host of CNN Tonight was having a conversation with CNN senior global affairs analyst Bianna Golodryga when he broke down and said: “Sorry. I said I wasn’t going to do this. Jesus. He’s probably sitting at home laughing at me. When I walk into work every day — Chris and I are really good friends; we live near each other — so when I walk into work every day, I have to walk by where Chris is. So I usually go to his office, and I say, you know, what’s doin’. Sometimes I bring the dogs, and we just say hello. Anyway, he’s just not here, and we have this great relationship…”

Golodryga reassured Lemon by explaining: “Speaking of healthy, I don’t know anybody else who is healthier than Chris.”
