Amidst her artistic accomplishments, Faye Fantarrow’s personal journey has been marked by resilience and unwavering determination. Despite the challenges, Faye Fantarrow fought valiantly, only to face a recurrence of leukaemia at the age of 13, leading her down an even more demanding path. At the age of 20, Faye Fantarrow received the devastating news of an aggressive Glioma brain tumour, believed to be a rare consequence of her previous treatments. “‘The Weekend,’ for me, is a great example of mine and Dave’s working relationship and how we collaborate as artists,” shares Faye Fantarrow. “It was so lovely seeing the soundscape dynamic come together in the production of the song and to see all the hard work of everyone involved including the team behind the video. Needless to say, I am very proud of this track and video and honoured to have worked with the great Mr Stewart.”

Dave Stewart adds: “‘The Weekend’ is another unique lyric from Faye; just telling how it is for so many hard-working people here in Britain. Her vocal delivery sounds so effortless and her melodies are infectious, as usual. We had an amazing time making the whole EP and ‘The Weekend’ speaks about having a celebration in the face of adversity. It’s a very poignant song for so many, including Faye Fantarrow who is a true hero in my eyes.”

Written by David Stewart and Faye Fantarrow, with the former also acting as the producer, “The Weekend” is an addictive indie-pop song that effortlessly showcases this rising singer-songwriter’s awesome vocals and lyrical skills. With a brilliant twang to her voice, Faye Fantarrow brings indie-pop to life as she delves into relatable lyrics about typical everyday hard work which also includes overtime and how we’re all just focusing on the days we have off – which is generally a weekend – to which we then let go, let loose, and make sure we have a good time during those days. For Faye Fantarrow, her weekend involves partying, getting some drinks in, having some shots, and fending off Monday – she is totally our type of party girl and she totally needs to invite us to her next night out! This track is stunning and can be interpreted in a variety of relatable ways, and in Faye Fantarrow’s case, enjoying life during the weekend is certainly a must if her back-story is anything to go by. “The Weekend” may just seem like your average indie-pop party track with a stunning country-twang vocal, but once you really listen, once you connect, once you hear Faye Fantarrow’s emotional integrity, it becomes so much more than average, we’d go as far as saying it’s phenomenal!

As for the music video, directed by Myles Docherty, we start by watching a VHS tape with Faye Fantarrow’s name on it, being inserted into an old TV, which is then played and an ice rink is displayed. The visual we’re watching becomes the visual from the VHS where Faye Fantarrow is working as a clerk at the ice rink, finishing her shift. She ends up at a bar, refuses to let a guy drink a beer she seems to order, and she’s the one who gets thrown out of the bar – this is not surprising. She then walks down a street where women are arguing, before drinking shots with friends in another bar. She then appears in another bar, and another bar, then a club, and another club (that Lady Gaga gif totally speaks volumes for this music video) – which leads to blurred shots and hazy visuals, totally making the viewers feel like we’re on this weekend sesh with her, maybe we will be one day (we need this party invite Faye Fantarrow). The ending sees her collapsing on her bed – something we all do after a night out like this one. This a brilliant visual that highly relates to the music video, we especially love the scene where they’re drinking shots at the same time as her verse, about the shots, kick in. Lastly, Faye Fantarrow looks absolutely stunning in a gorgeous hot pink blazer and trousers, with a lime-green bra that contrasts the pink number perfectly – her fashion is on point too, just like her music!
