An allegation has been made against a Google software engineer for the murder of his wife in Santa Clara, California, after purportedly beating her to death at their residence.

The Santa Clara police stated that 27-year-old Liren Chen was discovered standing in the bedroom, with his wife’s lifeless body behind him on the floor. His wife, Xuanyi Yu, endured severe blunt force injuries to her head while Chen’s right hand appeared “extremely swollen and purple”.

Additionally, the police noted that he had blood on his clothing, arms, legs, and hands, as well as scratches on his arm.

Upon responding to a 911 call from an acquaintance of Liren Chen at a property on Valley Way on January 16 at approximately 11 am (local time), officers uncovered the scene of the assault.

An acquaintance had expressed concern about Liren Chen and his wife, who was also a Google engineer.

He had reportedly been unresponsive to phone calls and door knocks. The acquaintance observed Chen inside his home, motionless on his knees, with his hands in the air and a blank stare.

Due to Chen’s hospitalization, his arraignment was postponed until Jan. 22, as documented in court records.

“Domestic violence fatalities in our county have been declining, but this does not quantify the magnitude and destructiveness of the violence,” expressed District Attorney Jeff Rosen in a press release. “For anyone who suspects that they or someone else is victimized by their partners, please reach out to your local law enforcement agency. You are not alone; we can help.”

“We are shocked and deeply saddened by what has happened to Xuanyi,” conveyed Google spokesperson Bailey Tomson in a statement to Fox News Digital. “Our thoughts are with her family at this time, and we will work to provide support to them and to co-workers who are processing this tragic news.”

Both Liren Chen and Xuanyi Yu had academic backgrounds at China’s Tsinghua University and the University of California, San Diego, according to their respective LinkedIn profiles.
