James Arthur is back with his incredible new single ‘Empty Space’.

Returning to his signature sound, ‘Empty Space’ sees James pour his heart out over a stunning guitar-led melody. Armed with some of his most honest lyrics yet, the track focuses on the pain that follows a break up, with James acknowledging his faults and realising that he has lost the best thing he ever had.

Whilst the song is written about losing a romantic relationship, it will resonate with anyone who’s lost someone who is irreplaceable in their lives.

I’ve been drinking, I’ve been doing things I shouldn’t do.
Over thinking, I don’t know who I am without you.
I’m a liar and a cheat, I let me ego swallow me.
And that’s why I might never see you again.
I’m alone in my head looking for love in a strangers bed.
But I don’t think I’ll find it ’cause only you could fill this empty space

The poignant and heartfelt lyrics throughout ‘Empty Space’ are delivered with raw emotion thanks to James’ striking and distinct vocals. The final chorus in particular proves to be utterly breathtaking, with James giving every inch of himself to the song.

Speaking about the track, James said: “This song is for anyone who has ever deeply loved and lost someone dear to them, and is then faced with the struggle of trying to fill that void. It is about coming to terms with the fact that only that special person can truly fill the empty space.”
