Ever since Gary Neville was sacked as manager of Valencia, the question on everyone's lips has been: when will he make his return to our screens?
Along with Jamie Carragher, the former Manchester United captain's insightful and honest punditry on Sky Sports' Monday Night Football had made for must-watch viewing for any football fan.
And when Neville was unveiled as the surprise new appointment at Valencia in early December, viewers immediately mourned the loss of one of television's premier football pundits.
Neville's first foray into management ultimately proved unsuccessful, ending his four month reign with a win percentage of 18.
Since leaving the Mestalla in March, rumours have abound that the 41-year-old could be set for a swift return to the Sky Sports studios, with the channel's director admitting he would welcome back the England coach with open arms.
Sky Sports have so far failed to permanently replace Neville, and Carragher sent Twitter into mild hysteria on Monday afternoon when he tweeted this ahead of Monday's programme.
MNF is back tonight! A man who had a spell in Spain & came back earlier than expected will join us tonight!!
— Jamie Carragher (@Carra23) April 18, 2016The teaser tweet had many fans anticipating the long awaited return of the prince of punditry, Gary Neville.
Gary Neville back on sky tonight, buzzing for that, sorely missed. #MNF
— Jack Dillon (@JakDillon93) 18 April 2016Gary Neville is back on Monday Night Football this evening.
All is right with the world again.
— HLTCO (@HLTCO) 18 April 2016However the former Liverpool man was quick to quash the excited rumours that Neville would be re-joining Carragher in the studio whilst managing to land a dig at Neville's torrid spell in charge at Valencia.
With a return for Gary Neville ruled out, the tweet had much of Twitter mystified as to who the unnamed guest could be.
Sky Sports soon revealed the identity of the mystery pundit to be none other than former Arsenal and Barcelona midfielder, Cesc Fabregas.
Sky Sports' Monday Night Football anchor, Ed Chamberlain, tweeted a picture of their special guest half an hour before the programme was due to air.
Fabregas becomes the latest Chelsea player to make an appearance on the show after the club's all-time leading goalscorer Frank Lampard impressed in his debut in front of the cameras earlier this season.
It was rumoured that the former England international Jonathan Woodgate was in line to appear on the programme, having played in Spain for Real Madrid
The former Leeds defender made over 60 appearances for Spurs and Stoke after failing to win a single honour whilst at the Bernabeu.
